There is a rare opportunity to obtain some wonderful and historic photographs at comparatively low prices right now. Magnum launched their square print sale today of some 78 pictures from their archives, the theme “Closer” referencing Robert Capa’s famous comment “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough”.

But how to choose? Whilst some of the images stand out from a historical perspective as some of the most iconic examples of documentary photography, there are a number of photographs that are just beautiful images or tell a story in their own right
