A New Orchestra - First Meeting in Photographs

7th June 2021 saw the first meeting of some of the most celebrated chamber musicians in the world, at the inception of a new orchestra in the Chilterns.

I was asked to document the gathering and first rehearsal in the unusual location that had been chosen, a huge barn in the Chiltern Hills that only days before had housed farm equipment including tractors, bailers and various tools and product. The full gallery is available here, a little of the story follows…

Echor Music was created by Eva Thorarinsdottir, Jonathan Stone and Nicholas Bootiman with a view to bringing innovative, exciting orchestral concerts to the Chilterns with a series of ongoing concerts in rural and surprising settings. It was a pleasure and privilege to witness the meeting, rehearsal and then more formal performance of classical music in such an unusual, but acoustically outstanding setting.

The orchestra is planning a programme of ongoing outreach work, making music accessible and available. You can find more of my images in the gallery here and please do learn more about Echor Music via their website.
